Gunwi-gun holds a unity-inspired festival for the county residents and craftsmen every year to share the joy of copious harvest. This event, geared towards boosting the citizens' unity, is held to inspire pride in all of 300,000 county people and 300,000 Gunwi people, and to create a better living environment with concerted efforts of the county citizens. The festival consists of a sport competition, unity event, singing contest, eve festival and fireworks display. The sports competition, which begins with a street parade, includes track and field event, tug-of-war, group jump rope and ssireum (Korean wrestling) between eup and myeon units of Gunwi.

Gunwi Beneficial Agricultural and Forest Products Festival is held to inspire pride in farmers and locals, and to conduct diverse amusing experience events with the outstanding agricultural and forest products from the pure and clean areas so as to promote the excellence of Korean agricultural products. The event presents the evaluation of the agricultural products from the certified eco-friendly farmers competing for the top ranking, the display of diverse agricultural and forest products with outstanding taste and flavors, such as Gunwi cucumber, jujube, apple, and tomato, the exhibition of farm machinery and convenience devices, an agricultural products market, experiential events, and urban-rural exchange events. Moreover, our interesting programs for promoting the superiority of Korean agricultural products include the exhibition of characters created with agricultural products, an agricultural products competition, a photo zone, wild flowers display, and Gunwi-themed experience travel together with cultural storytellers and the products competition, which present the making of moisturizing cucumber soap essence, and rice cake making, etc.

The Hwabon Village Festival, anchored on the theme “Let’s Play, Hwabon,” successfully presented cultural contents based on the recollection of the 1960s-70s at the Memory Museum. The museum was remodeled from an abandoned school building (When Mom and Dad Were Young), generating acclaims among viewers and leading the village to be designated as a colorful village festival by the government of Gyeongsangbuk-do. The When Mom and Dad Were Young Museum features the lifestyles of the 1960s – 70s, the experiential games from earlier times, and the experiential foods of well-being, among other diverse events. Blending with the beautiful provisional station, the Samguk Yusa Mural Village, and the school of recollection, the festival features a great banquet of Hwabon Village. It will certainly offer memorable moments for all visitors including families, lovers and friends.
